What is a Diagnostic Laparoscopy?
A diagnostic laparoscopy is a procedure where a laparoscopy is done to evaluate your pelvis, and to look for diseases or lesions that have not shown up on a scan.
For infertility patients it is ALWAYS combined with a diagnostic hysteroscopy, and together called a diagnostic hystero-laparoscopy.
When is a Diagnostic Laparoscopy done?
The common reasons your doctor might ask for a diagnostic laparoscopy are:
- Infertility
- Chronic pelvic pain
- Diagnosis of pelvic tuberculosis
- Diagnosis of an ectopic pregnancy
- Diagnosis of pelvic infections
- Diagnosis and spread of tumours
